Personal 2.0

Wow, it really is hard to keep a personal blog! So far I've only made two posts in 2007, and another two in 2008. EPIC FAIL!

I've published hundred of posts on other blogs though, just not on my own personal blog. After all, who needs a normal blog when you can microblog and automatically aggregate most, if not all of your outputs on twitter, friendfeed, facebook, plaxo etc or even mediablog on those and a plethora of other social media sites (eg. picasa, flickr, youtube, webshots, delicious, digg, myspace, slideshow, live, 360 et. al) right?

Say... I've just completed 50% of the posts for 2009! ;)

Note to self... Need to moblog! Why am I not using my super mobo to post some?? Hmm...

Thin Air

Not just hot air, but love is in the air, and it's damn thin!

I'm talking about Mac and Apple, off what Jobs just showcased to us in the MacWorld 2008 this week. And I'm about to love Mac as ever, although I no longer use Mac for years now... In fact, it's been more than five years since I last own anything Mac (although I still touch them, friend's and at college labs etc). Nowadays, I sport a latest HP tablet PC notebook and a Nokia superfly phone, but the longing for Macs hasn't died. After all, I still use iTunes to listen to music and spending countless hours every day listening to podcasts and viewing vodcasts.

Well, maybe 2008 will be the year I'm back with Macs and iPhone, assuming they will arrive in time, and arrive big in Malaysia soon! As I'm about to start another company next month, and think I'd like to write a wish list for the startup equipments, and they will definitely include:-
  1. MacBook Air (superthin notebook down to 0.16-inch!) starting $1799
  2. Apple Time Capsule (extreme wireless backup via 802.11n) with 500GB or 1TB of storage starting $499
  3. Airport Extreme with Gigabits router ports with wireless speed exceeding 200MBps!* starting $179
  4. Apple TV starting $229 (price drop)
  5. iPhone starting $399 (with telco plan or RM2000+ for unlocked ones, unauthorizedly)
Any Apple enthusiasts wanna work with me, "swimming" underwater?

* BTW, Wifi-y is supposed to come up some time later this year, with outdoor coverage up to 5-km!! Hmm, bye-bye WiMaX?

Eid al-Adha al-Mubarak!

I'm a geek, so I facebooked* digital greeting cards including one to myself (see below, instead of spending lots of cash using the mainstream SMS/mobile text-messaging), as well as setting up a FB event on this year's Aidil Adha (that's celebrated by a billion plus Muslims all over the world) over the course of three days beginning Thusday Maghrib (19dec07 ~7.15p ~ 10 Thw al-Hijjah) until Saturday dawn (22dec07).

Am still in Eid holiday mood... While most other Malaysians have to go back to work today (Friday), I get to take good morning rest, cooking at home, and doing other domestic chores which include eating and eating... and testing GPS and download maps onto my mobile phone plus spending hours playing around more with Google Earth and Google Maps -- I wonder when I'd make another road long trips like I did back then exactly ten years ago, driving from Michigan to Pasadena, California and back in nine days (covering well over 8000 miles I believe), so I'd get to really use this supa dupa geo-technology. But I've only gone to one open house yesterday. Perhaps, I'll do a Open BBQ-event tomorrow, or crash some others' houses... (Isn't there any Adha Open House by politicians and govt. agencies like for Aidil Fitri, CNY, Deepavali Xmas etc?)

Selamat menjalankan ibadah korban... (Happy sacrificing, symbolically, and actually!)

p/s: MORE PROOF THAT i'M a GEEK: I am listening to Dr Irfan Khairi's JejakJutawan interview slot via live streaming of Radio24... (I ada jumpa anchor stesen ni baru ni, sikit punya 'ayu'..., hehe) - Dr Irfan is another Malaysian-born Millionaire Geek btw! When not listening to Radio24 (on radio or via Internet), I watch Joost, and listen to podcasts and catch up with vodcasts via iTunes and on my new N95 super phone. I'm now watching less, and less TV (one-way video feeds)... After all, I'm the Web Pod! ;)

* Like the word 'google', 'facebook' has made it to dictionaries!!

Up close and personal, finally...

Hello World! Opps... (this a blog, not a computer program output test!)

My Dear Distinguished Reader, the Time Person of the Year 2006 (YOU!):

Being 'linked' is not enough. The world now demands web 2.0-ish rich media, and applications! It's no longer about things: markets or technologies, but people: life. And life ought to be rich in colors and things unexpected....

Well before I start rambling endlessly, I suppose it's a good idea to write a brief intro before I continue pestering this blog with bits and pieces of life trail... I'm not going to post personal information up though, as you can always google me (or just about any other person who matters in this world) if you know my name etc -- info voyeurism has gone mainstream as a passion for many at this digital facebook age!

No, I'm not a newbie, and this is not my first blog post. I first spammed the Net in 1992 (using a phony email sender and usenet+gopher+bbs submitter information), making me one of the first few spammers in the world. And I uploaded my first marketing-centric HTML-based document on the Web in 1993 making me one of the first web marketers too (or web spammer, eh?). I've long stopped spamming though, and now advocate more responsible use of the Internet and handling of information.

As you can see, this is the first entry in one of my countless blogs. I'd like to think that I've been 'blogging' (on the Internet) for over a decade now having sent countless emails and posted countless documents on the Web all these years but it wasn't until early 2007 when I really start blogging more consistently. One of the first post I made on Blogspot that I trace in this same account was dated as early as 2002 (or earlier, I remember correctly).

Unfortunately though, as much as I'd like to document 'my life' for people like you my fine reader to peek into, my Nokia 6630 (the latest 'in' thing back in late 2004/early 2005) failed on me earlier this year after a tough drop on a cement floor and since then I've been reduced from a 'cam whore' to a mere actor of this thing called life -- To make things worse, the owner of a local phone dealer/repair shop took well more than half a year attempting to supposedly fix my 6630 but finally alleging that the damned thing can't be fixed even by Nokia KL HQ which he alleged to have indeed sent the device to but returned in a useless state after my insisting on its return after the ridiculously long zero-hope period (I'm having a hard to believe him though!).

Now that I've finally gotten cheered again with another latest from Nokia during the second half 2007, an N95 that is (the N-series group sounds like a Beamer to me!), and there's this thing called Lifeblog on it its latest Nokia symbian-based OS, it's time to start 'camwhoring' again, -- meaning that I'd document more about things and other people who I happen to encounter on day-to-day basis, in the forms of images, audio and video instead of in the boring text-dominated format, or just posing for others.

So, stay tuned for more of my 2.0 stuff... (via Blogspot, Picasa, YouTube, Google Earth, SlideShare, Imeem, Facebook etc.)
